North Cambridgeshire Training Centre, Chatteris
West Suffolk College has partnered with a metal manufacturer in Chatteris to establish a new training centre for apprenticeships within the region.
MCS Interiors were commissioned to complete all internal partitions, drylining, suspended ceilings and cavity barriers.
The training centre comprises a two-storey unit with workshops and classroom spaces.
Various partition walls have been constructed with acoustic benefits as well as 30-minute and 60-minute fire ratings, with walls up to 4.8m high. Overall, approximately 3,400m2 had to be taped and filled for the final finish.
Ceilings consisted of an Armstrong 600mm x 600mm Dune Evo Tegular tile in 24mm exposed grid system, covering almost 560m2. Moisture-resistant tiles have been incorporated into toilets and shower rooms.
475 linear/m of shadow gaps have been installed to the perimeter of all suspended ceilings with white shadow batten to match the finished wall colour.
